Our wildlife is integral to the character of our state.

From birds to land mammals to aquatic species big and small, our wildlife is integral to the landscape, stories and collective memories of our state. Michigan’s wildlife need support to thrive:
  • Endangered and threatened species require careful monitoring, habitat protection and restoration
  • Game species require disease control and prevention, as well as population control and protection
  • Non-managed species benefit from broad habitat management measures like wetland restoration and forest protection and management
All this is made possible by dedicated professionals and volunteers through funds generated from the sale of hunting and fishing licenses and related equipment purchases. Conservation efforts rely on these funds.
